New Year’s Resolutions – Make New Friends in Your Community!!!
A new year – A new start! Why not get involved in your community and make new friends! Do you have ideas about what you would like to do – from setting up a German-speaking club, to organising a sign language course or a DIY club – Timebank wants to hear from you and let’s get going!!!!!
· Community Timebank Steering Group
Timebank is looking for people to get involved in our Community Timebank Steering Group. The role of Steering Group is to decide the policy and agenda of the Timebank and to work with the Facilitator to decide the most effective way for the office to support and develop the community. The office can do things on its own but it will take it longer without the input of the community. If you would like to join this group please give the office a call.
· Events Group
Timebank is also looking to get a group together who are interesting organising events – from the St. Patrick’s Day Parade to the a Family Fun Day to a Fundraising Lunch or evening. If you would like to get involved please contact the Office.
· Membership Group
Do you have ideas about how the Timebank can attract new members? Can you think of new ways of getting people involved and of getting people to contribute to the Timebank? If so, you are the ideal person Timebank needs for our new membership Group. Contact Timebank.
· Contribute to Keep Community Timebank Going!!!
This year, Timebank is involved in the development of the Youth Café, the Multi-Use Games Area, and establishing the Parish as a Heartsafe Community. In order to continue working on these and other projects, Timebank needs you contribute to help meet its costs. Why not avail of the membership card scheme at €50 with local discounts in Rising Tide, Radisson SAS spa and gym, Dunsland Garden Centre and a monthly raffle? If you would like to contribute on an ongoing basis why not setup a standing order for €5- €10 per month. Please contact Timebank if you can help in any way.
Heartsafe Community 2007
Community Timebank is working with Pfizer Ireland, Little Island Community Association and the Irish Heart Foundation to make Glounthaune Parish – Knockraha, Little Island, Glounthaune and Brooklodge.
The Heartsafe Community Programme is an Irish Heart Foundation initiative which aims to encourage all communities to strengthen every link in the ‘Chain of Survival’ in their community. The ‘Chain of Survival’ concept comprises four vital links that can save a life: Early Access, Early Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Early Defibrillation and Early Advanced Care.

Tea and Coffee After the Service
The Women’s World Day of Prayer Services began in 1887 and started in Ireland in 1934. The Event has a special connection with Ireland as it was an Irish Artist who designed the movement’s logo. On the 2nd March, women from 170 countries and islands will be praying together and for each other. The service has translated into more than 60 languages and 1,000 dialects. The day begins at the international dateline in the Pacific where the first service is held at dawn in Queen Salote’s school in the Service in Tonga. Then the Mexican Wave of Prayer rises and moves around the globe and back to other side of the dateline.
In Ireland, the prayers will take place in churches of different denominations and will also be said in Irish. Men and Women from all denominations and nationalities are welcome. We pray especially with Paraguay this year, under the theme, United Together Under God’s Tent praying for those in situations of war, and poverty, improved medical and educational facilities and of course forgiveness where we are not living up to the best of care for each other. More information available from the organisers: Hazel Sweetnam 085 7213853 and Margaret Tobin.
