Leeside/Knockraha FC Update

Knockraha FC A team have started the new year well with wins over Kilowen in the second round of the Corinthian Cup and beating Glen Celtic in the league.  The B team had our first win of the season with a 3, 2 win over UCC ex-player. It was Niall Broderick score direct from a corner for all three points for Knockraha.  Both teams still train twice a week Monday and Thursday at 7pm.

Leeside/Knockraha under 17 are still flying high in the under 17 league and are joint top with Ballincollig. The under 15 team are top of the league. The under 13 team are still top of the under 13 league. Leeside/Knockraha under 11 are flying up the league after a poor start, winning their last two games.

The clubs underage set up are training all winter, under 7, U8, U9 and U10 and all teams are flying fit for the new season which starts in March. Training is every Friday in Leeside Park and every Tuesday in Knockraha at 6.15 and new players are always welcome to join our ever-growing club. We will have three teams in the under 8 league alone this season, great credit to all our new coaches in the club.

Big Brother Big Sister – Cork’s Newest Mentoring Scheme

Why volunteer with Big Brother Big Sister?  It’s great fun, it will cost you nothing, it’s only an hour or two a week and it will make a big difference to a young person.  The programme has been running successfully in Ireland since 2001. It gives young people who need a extra support, the chance to meet with an adult volunteer for one or two hours a week and have fun!  The young people come from all different backgrounds – they might be struggling at school, have a family member who is ill, shy and introverted, from an area of economic disadvantage but no two young people are the same.  Volunteers receive training and ongoing support from a professionally qualified project worker.  We are looking for men to act as Big Brothers to boys and women to act as Big Sisters to girls.
