The Meals on Wheels covers five areas including Glounthaune, Little Island, Brooklodge, Knockraha and Glanmire and are a huge asset to our community. There are approximately 120 volunteers involved in the service and 40 recipients. Meals on Wheels cook on three days a week – Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. All the food is fresh and is cooked from base. All soup is made from fresh vegetables, and dinner – usually two vegetables, meat and potatoes – is also fresh. There is a special Christmas and Easter Dinner. 3 cooks a day prepare the food and five drivers a day deliver the food. The roster for the cooks is that you cook once every six weeks. The roster for drivers is that you drive once a month. Meals on Wheels are always looking for new volunteers and drivers.
