The Erin's Own G.A.A. Club was founded in 1963, with 91 players played in junior A and B in the first few years and minor grade. It was in the 1970 that the club started to mushroom from six teams to around twenty teams. It won a number of divisional titles in a lot of the grades during this time. In 1980, the club decided to upgrade to intermediate hurling and progressed to four finals in seven years. In 1988, it went up to senior grade and has remained there ever since. It was in 1992 that the club came of age by winning the first county senior title against Na Piarisigh. It was a tremendous day and a fitting tribute to the founder members of the club. In the year 2000 we were again in another final. This time we were beaten by New Town Shandrum. In 2006, the club won our second county title defeating Cloyne on October 22nd. This is another chapter in our history book. The club has won every honour in every grade in the in hurling both the division and the county in the last ten years. It also has a very strong football side. We are playing intermediate football at the moment. Erins Own also has vibrant and successful Camogie and Ladies Football teams (Details on the main activity page) Off the pitch, we opened our first playing field in 1978, we have continued to expand. In 2006 we opened a second pitch, complete with flood light and a modern complex with a museum, fully tarmac car park and hurling alley and meeting room.
